Ballybunion Seaweed Baths
Seaweed baths have been popular in Ireland since Edwardian times. In Ballybunion, Collins’s Hot Seaweed Baths (established in 1932) is situated on the Ladies Strand, and is a place where relaxation and rejuvenation are encouraged. Lie back in a bath of salt-water and serrated wrack which has been freshly picked nearby, and soak in the softness of the iodine and natural oils of the seaweed. Relaxing in a seaweed bath is an old therapy for aches, pains and tired muscles and is a wonderfully de-stressing experience for the body. With your own private bathroom, it is recommended to soak for a half an hour and take in the rythmic sounds of the Atlantic as its waves roll onto the beach. The hot seawater and seaweed are replaced for each customer and the baths are always thoroughly cleaned.
